Zomentum story

What is learning defined by? Is it when you adapt to a new challenge? Or is it when you change a part of yourself completely, to reach your end goal?

For some people, learning can be all about absorbing new information. For others, it can be all about letting go of the things they knew and starting on a clean slate. When Moolya started their journey with Zomentum, we didn’t know of the learning that was coming our way.

An intelligent Revenue Platform built to ease out the selling, managing, and discovering of partner sales, Zomentum stands unique when it comes to uncomplicating the sales process. When Moolyans began their Zomentum project, their focus was on QA.

The Learning?

Moolya did not have QA. Aswath and Sreeja took on the project and jumped into their journey of learning and unlearning to support Zomentum growth. “The initial ride was quite a bumpy one. With minimal knowledge of what we’re getting into, we decided to take things at a steady pace. We started as a two member team and have now grown to 7+ people handling this project. It was never a one man show, we supported each other and the way and reached where we are '', says Ashwath, Delivery Manager for the project.

“It was challenging enough for us to get escalations initially. We didn’t have any domain knowledge when we began. Zomentum didn’t have QA before. Plus, the world was just hit by the pandemic and was going remote. We started our learning process in the midst of this, sometimes we’d log out at 1 AM”, says Sreeja, the initial one on the project.

The Outcome

At each step, the team had knowledge gaps and barriers to face. While some members took on the challenge head on, some learnt quietly. It all totalled when they collectively bridged gaps and had cross trainings to perform better together.

“We handle Zomentum’s deployment now. They don’t go into production without our approval. Moreover, we’ve converted our escalations into appreciation from them. It’s been a beautiful journey”, says Aswath.

At the moment, team Zomentum is built a diverse lot. While some were interns until a while ago, some are experienced testers. All members come with opinions and ideas that have only added to the growth of the project. While a few things worked, and the others didn’t, they were always open to feedback. Naturally, they would also feel low or frustrated when they tried their hands at something and didn’t work. But the team remembered to help each other bounce back.

“I joined the project in last January, it was going in all directions”, says Prasad.., “It was a learning journey, and we dipped our toes in API and Load testing, although it wasn’t directly a part of our tasks. We also looked into bifurcating Zomentum’s features into smaller, payable features. It took us around 2 months to test each feature, but the end result was a great boost to Zomentum and nothing makes us happier than that”, he continues.Stories of how an intern Praveen found more than 600 bugs, or how Nagashree worked alone on a part of the project and explored around it, keep flourishing in the team.

The impact

Today, these Moolyans have an exceptional rapport with Zomentum and work in tandem to make sales and CRm easier for everyone. In their daily brainstorms and banters, they discuss about everything from testing to hobbies. Team Zomentum has also conducted Yoga sessions for their partners on the client side.

Learning can be about adapting, it can also be about overcoming a challenge, or starting on a clean slate. But learning can never be linear. It can also never be singular. These Moolyans have set a precedent about collective learning and growth for the rest of us. We’re proud to call them our own.
